Expert Hearing Care, Now Available in Practice

Good hearing plays an important role in everyday life — from enjoying conversations with family and friends to staying connected, confident and independent. Because hearing changes can occur gradually, regular hearing checks are an important part of maintaining your overall well-being.

At Arthur Hayes Opticians in East Grinstead, we work in partnership with  The Hearing Care Partnership to provide professional audiology services within the familiar surroundings of our practice.

Our hearing care service is focused on early detection, expert advice and personalised support tailored to your individual needs. An experienced audiologist offers a range of services including free hearing tests, hearing aids, ear wax removal, tinnitus consultations and bespoke hearing protection.

We aim to make hearing care simple, reassuring and accessible — with clear guidance, no pressure and expert support at every stage of your hearing journey.

Professional complimentary hearing tests at Arthur Hayes

A hearing test is a simple, painless way to understand your hearing health and identify any changes early. At your appointment, our audiologist will take the time to discuss your hearing history, listen to any concerns, and conduct a series of comfortable, non-invasive tests.

Once the assessment is complete, your results will be explained clearly and in plain language, so you fully understand your hearing and what it means for you.

You may benefit from a hearing test if you:

  • Find it difficult to follow conversations, particularly in noisy environments

  • Often ask people to repeat themselves

  • Turn the television or radio up louder than others prefer

  • Notice ringing, buzzing, or other unusual sounds in your ears

Regular hearing tests are recommended, especially if you are over 50 or have been exposed to loud noise at work or during leisure activities. We also recommend bringing a friend or family member to your appointment. They can offer support and help our audiologist gain a fuller picture of how your hearing may be affecting everyday life.

Our hearing tests are available to adults aged 18 and over and provide valuable insights into your overall hearing health.

Hearing aids & hearing loss solutions

If hearing loss is identified, our audiologist will guide you through the available options and recommend solutions tailored to your hearing needs, lifestyle, and budget.

We offer a wide range of modern hearing aids that are comfortable, discreet, and highly effective. Today’s hearing aid technology is designed to improve speech clarity, reduce background noise, and help you hear more naturally in everyday situations.

We work with leading manufacturers, including Oticon, Starkey, and Phonak, giving you access to some of the most advanced hearing aids on the market. With a variety of styles, colours, and features, there is a solution to suit every preference.

Following your hearing assessment, we will:

  • Clearly explain your hearing test results

  • Recommend appropriate hearing aid options where needed

  • Professionally fit and fine-tune your hearing aids

  • Provide ongoing aftercare, adjustments, and support

Our aim is to help you feel confident, comfortable, and supported at every stage. In some cases, hearing difficulties may be caused by earwax build-up, which can reduce sound clarity and may not require hearing aids at all.
